Supply Planner / Buyer is responsible for ordering material requirements to suppliers and ensuring suppliers comply with delivery commitments. Supply planners focuses on materials requirement for production and inventory. Additionally, supplier planners closely monitor supplier’s delivery performance and provides input in terms of changes required to inventory planning parameters.
Responsibilities
Supply Planning
- Responsible for ensuring material availability from suppliers.
- Responsible for tracking supplier’s delivery performance.
- Expedites materials as needed based on production requirements.
- Assess supplier risks and proactively seeks solutions and or alternatives as needed
- Collaborates with inventory and materials planning team to understand material requirements. Communicates supplier and delivery performance issues if any to all key stakeholders.
- Actively participates in material planning reviews.
Supplier Performance Management
- Utilize ERP system driven reports to ensure supplier on-time performance.
- Proactively reviews past dues deliveries with suppliers.
- Develops solid understanding of supplier’s capacity and supply constraints if any.
- Contributes to supplier performance scorecard and performance reviews.
- Ensure suppliers comply with contractually agreed consignment/vendor managed inventory programs.
- Actions on supplier quality issues.
- Participates in supplier scorecard review and Quarterly Business Review.
Supplier Master Data
- Coordinates ordering parameter changes in ERP under governance from Supply Chain Manager and Inventory Planner.
- Reviews and updates supplier master data including lead times in ERP under governance from Supply Chain Manager
Purchase Order Management
- Responsible for ensuring purchase order integrity
- Responsible for ensuring purchase orders are updated and communicated to suppliers in a timely manner when needed.
- Responsible for ensuring suppliers comply with all terms and conditions as stated in the purchase orders.
Cost & Inventory Optimization
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through analysis of pricing, terms, and supplier performance. Seek alternative suppliers, negotiate better pricing, and explore options for strategic sourcing.
Qualifications & Experiences
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
- 5 years of demonstrated experience in materials planning, inventory management and order fulfillment ideally in an industrial/automotive/aerospace manufacturing environment.
- ASCM professional certification and or a community college degree/diploma in supply chain management will be considered an asset.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and forecasting techniques.
- Excellent understanding of materials planning and inventory management principles.
- Must be proficient in using inventory management software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, ideally LN or similar such as SAP, CMS etc
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office with advance data organization and analytics capabilities in Excel.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Knowledge of lean or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
