Amazing Facts about Room Temperature!

  1. The human body produces a lot of heat!
In any setting the heat produced by sedentary adults will vary between about 75.66 watts (271 Btu's) for 1.3 m2 and 128 watts (459 Btu's) for 2.2 m2.

  2. Room temperature is an important contributor to sleep.
Evidence suggests that humans sleep better when the head is allowed to cool but the rest of the body is kept warm.

  3. Mortality rates increase during the winter months.
Most of the change in mortality rates can be attributed to an increase in strokes and heart attacks. This is because the blood thickens and becomes more prone to clotting in people who are exposed to the cold. In the winter months, mortality rates increase by approximately 1.4% for every one degree drop in temperature below 18C.

  4. Room temperature plays an important role in supporting productivity.
A range of studies in different aspects of human performance (learning, office work, factory labor) suggest that both volume of work output and accuracy degrade as room temperature shifts away from a range of 21°C - 25°C

When temperatures were low (68 degrees or 20 degrees Celsius) employees made 44% more mistakes than at optimal room temperature (77 degrees or 25 degrees Celsius).”

  5. Ambient temperature plays an important role in social interactions
“Drivers not in air-conditioned cars honk the car horn more frequently on hot days  (Baron, 1976; McFarlane, 1986). People are less helpful when asked for an interview on a hot day (Cunningham, 1979)

Heat decreases attraction between 2 strangers, regardless of attitude similarity (Griffit 1970 J. Person. Soc. Psychol., 15, 240-244)”

what is design envelope?

Design Envelope technology combines the largest high-efficiency operating range with Sensorless, demand-based control for optimal performance. The size of the (high-efficiency) operating range safeguards your HVAC design or installation against changes in specifications, site conditions and tenant makeup. We call it “future-proofing” the building. It helps reduce the risk of costly redesigns, onsite modifications, or system underperformance.

Sensorless, demand-based control allows the pumps to respond to the fluid flow demands of the HVAC system, moment by moment, providing the exact flow rate required. The heating and cooling demands of the building are met. And energy usage is sharply reduced.
