The Technical Sales Representative – GTA plays a pivotal role in facets of day-to-day solution selling of Company products in the assigned branch or region. You will be responsible for implementing technical and consulting sales strategies and achieving personal and group sales objectives, while striving for customer satisfaction.

This position is based out of our head-office in Scarborough, Ontario.

ln addition to annual initiatives, the key accountabilities of this position are:

Sales Activities

  • Responsible for achieving or exceeding the annual individual sales plan
  • Expected to prospect fore new-name customers on a monthly basis
  • Support pre-sales activities to convert customers’ requirements into detailed solutions, quotations, and orders.
  • Working closely with consulting engineering firms design teams at an early/design stage of the projects to provide them design support for getting Armstrong product specified as basis of design (BOD).
  • Providing equipment engineering selections support to all the assigned Consulting Engineer firms during the project design stage.
  • Finding out project award status to the mechanical contracting firms so that the contracting sales team member can start working with the contracting account.
  • Collaborate and working closely with the contacting and WPD sales team members on the awarded projects submittals, submittal reviews, addressing submittal review comments follow ups etc.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with consulting engineering community.
  • Utilize sales tools effectively, such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and other Selection Software to plan and document progress as well as increase business opportunity within accounts.
  • Supports special tasks/projects assigned by management.
  • Active participation in industry events, trade shows, conferences etc.
  • Produces market activity reports and update activities on CRM daily.

Customer Support

  • Maintains all departmental policies and procedures. Resolves disputes in a timely manner.
  • Responsibilities include obtaining satisfactory customer contracts and ensuring accurate
  • Face-to-face meetings and calling on all key stakeholders within Consulting Engineer firms on a regular basis for details and information on current and new projects and providing design support as needed
  • Conducting virtual and face to face lunch and learns and technical sessions with the design engineers on Armstrong products, solutions, and controls.
  • Measures and reports daily/quarterly/annual reports as required by management.
  • Maintains customer and competitor records and participates in Sales Planning Sessions.
  • Interacts with Company marketing operatives to provide feedback on initiatives.
  • Analyzes and reports customer feedback for continuous market share improvement.

 

What We’re Looking For:

To thrive in this role, you should bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or College technical degree in a Mechanical Engineering program.
  • 4-5 years of Engineering/Technical Sales experience in HVAC industry within Canada, Pumping/Hydronics industry experience is a plus.
  • Sound knowledge of HVAC products and Systems.
  • Hands-on experience on HVAC products selection software.
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be self-motivated to achieve annual goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence customer’s key decision makers.
  • Willingness to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory.
  • Excellent writing, communication & presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills Self-directed with ability to work autonomously and collaboratively and a focus on results.
  • Ability to communicate in an open and authentic manner in all situations.
