Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer role reports to the Supervisor, Quality Assurance and is accountable for developing specification and test plans for power control electronics, motors, and other electrical products and components for company products.  This includes motor drives, controls and monitoring systems for water pumps and valves.  The Quality Engineer will prepare detailed production-quality documentation for incoming inspection, shop floor products and dock audit as per Armstrong Quality assurance system and industry standards.

 

Specific Focus Areas:

 

  • Able to understand operations, model performance and efficiency of electric motors under different operating conditions.
  • Knowledge on variable speed drives and their effect on motors.
  • Understand schematics for power control electronics, permanent magnet brushless DC and AC synchronous motors and systems.
  • Provide test and control plan as per Armstrong requirements.
  • Prepare detailed quality specifications for CTQ features as per control plan.
  • Apply analysis for job related NCN in incoming inspection, production and customer concerned products as per QA criteria and industry standards.
  • Work with multi-functional team to provide corrective action and preventative plan as per NCN occurring in different level.
  • Periodic process review for continuous improvement, job related NCN trend and target first time pass and zero-defect policy.
  • Work with QA and sourcing team for new supplier evaluation.
  • Participate in current supplier audit for product and process improvement.
  • Interact with Engineering teams, project teams and manufacturing personnel on daily basis for QA purpose and improvement opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • B.Sc. Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing environment, preferably involving Quality assurance and inspection/test plans.
  • High level of proficiency working with motors and drives.
  • Experience with PLC’s, microprocessors and data processing.
  • Experience with closed-loop controls: PID, adaptive, fuzzy logic and sensors.
  • Knowledge of AC and DC motors and motor drives: PWM, VFD’s, drives for brushless motors with hall sensors for commutation and permanent magnet motors.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and familiar with ISO 9001 QMS.
  • HVAC application knowledge is desired.

As a Marketing Specialist you will be involved in all marketing functions for the company’s portfolio of HVAC Packaged Systems and associated automation products. Essential Functions:

  • Develops and maintains the portfolio of promotional materials in partnership with the Communications Department

Qualifications:

  • Practical marketing experience in a commercial or industrial segment
  • Technical Knowledge of thermo-hydraulic, control system, and system design technical knowledge
  • University or CET designation in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field. Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario is an asset
  • A complimentary degree, or other education in Marketing will be given preference
  • 5+ years of sales or marketing experience in the commercial construction marketplace or industrial market
  • 5+ years of technical / engineering experience
  • Experience with annual budget planning, development of marketing plans, and business reporting

Application Engineer, Energy Upgrades

Summary Objective:

The Energy Upgrade Application Engineer- Canada, interacts with external and internal sources to coordinate a winning position for key Energy Upgrade projects.  The role is accountable for targeting Energy Upgrade projects in Canada and ensure a ‘project winning strategy’ by understanding the chilled water plant system & recommending optimum design and configuration.

The Energy Upgrade Application Engineer will report to the Energy Upgrade, Business Development Manager, Canada. and works directly with each of the members of the Canadian intermal and external Sales organization. Summary Objective:

The primary responsibility of this position is to establish, develop, and optimize Armstrong Fluid Technology’s Energy Upgrade Project Management execution and systems to ensure Best in Class customer experience.

Key Accountabilities:

Energy Upgrades, Field Technician

Job Summary:

Specific involvement with all startup, service and field support for Armstrong products, including (but not limited to): control panels, automation, variable frequency drives, pumps, heat exchangers, expansion control systems, automated valves, instrumentation, sensors and other HVAC equipment. 

 

Responsibilities are focused around the startup of equipment, troubleshooting (both off-site and on-site) & maintenance of Armstrong products. Will require hands on capability with HVAC equipment and systems.

 

The successful incumbent will provide ‘best in class’ customer service, engaging both our end-users and third party service representatives.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage customer issue resolutions, warranty transactions, maintenance of records and documentation of responses to customer inquiries.
  • Conduct on-site system startups for DE products, configured building equipment, controls systems, central plants, and remote monitoring for system performance assurance
  • Analyze customer feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with engineering, technical support, project management, Sales and Marketing for product development activities and project specific initiatives.
  • Ensure service documents, forms and billing are kept up-to-date & processed accordingly

Specific Duties/Essential Functions:

  • Ensure timely response time to field service calls
  • Frequent travel to customer sites and conduct troubleshooting and analysis on all Armstrong products, conduct system start-ups and perform scheduled maintenance.
  • Provide regular communication and updates with our customers to ensure satisfaction
  • Maintain customer service relationship through customer phone support, on-site service visits and system commissioning activities.

  • Participate in the qualification and supervision of third party service representatives.

  • The position will require that the incumbent be capable of domestic travel on a regular basis.  Total travel requirements are estimated at 50% - 75%. 

Education/Experience:

  • Mechanical/Electrical diploma or Engineering degree or related field.

Position Summary

To work within the overall Engineering Team and to contribute strongly to the design and support of high-pressure pumping products and systems. This job will focus on the design, development and engineering of new pump systems used in the mining and industrial segments.

Some Key Responsibilities

  • To provide engineering input including concept design and drawings, BOM structures, GA drawings, P&ID’s, O&M manuals, manufacturing drawings, PDF construction and compilation of technical training programs.

Engineer – Mechanical Design

The Design Engineer applies proven abilities to the design of BSS projects as part of a multi-disciplined project team and as directed by the Project Manager. A project could consist of: Heat Transfer packages, Pump packages, Boiler plant packages, Chiller and Cooling Tower plant packages and Control Systems. These systems will be taken from concept design or specific customer requirements and delivered using computer aided design technology.

  • Developing 2D guidance drawings, 3D assemblies, sub-assemblies and details, associated manufacturing drawings, bills of material, calculations, purchase specifications, production information, test information, as-built drawings, etc…

Position Summary

As an Engineer in Controls department you will be reporting to the Team Leader and matrixed to the Engineering team in both Toronto the United Kingdom. The Controls Engineer will support Service / Maintenance, New Product Development (NPD) and cross functional projects within established standard effort hours and meet quality metrics.

Some Key Responsibilities

  • PLC/Controller programming on different platforms/tools for Armstrong products based on sequence of operation (SOO) and Flowchart inputs (PLC’s used are CAREL, Tridium, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Allan Bradley). HMI programming on different platforms/tools for Armstrong products with reference screens and guidance.
  • Ability to work on developing the documentation for controls products with guidance –SOO, Flow Charts, I&O and assist the service team in troubleshooting site issues with little guidance.
  • Understand the SOO and develop testing procedure so that it meets all specified requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct responsibility for U.S. Energy Upgrade Projects installation and commissioning
  • Develop, and implement consistent Project Management systems around (CRM, Asset Management, Centralized reporting, Contract management, Project Manager etc.)
  • Build and manage Project Management team and infrastructure
  • Define and implement consistent methodology, workflows, best practices and KPIs for EU Project execution.
  • Work closely with U.S. Service Teams in project/customer site project implementations & start up
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Product Management, IT, Operations etc.) to ensure that Installed Base data is updated.
  • Support development of new training content for End users, Service Parts Dealers and Commercial Service Partners
  • Establish and maintain national performance guidelines for service delivery through partners
  • Interact with external and internal sources to maximize customer specifications with the optimum Armstrong offering.
  • Special projects as needed

Position Summary

The Energy Upgrade Application Engineer- U.S. interacts with external and internal sources to coordinate a strategic position for key Energy Upgrade projects. The role is accountable for targeting Energy Upgrade projects in the US and ensuring a winning strategy.

The Energy Upgrade Application Engineer- U.S. reports to the National Sales Manager – Energy Upgrade, U.S. and works directly with each of the members of the US internal and external Sales organization. The role interacts with all functional areas of Armstrong, customers, industry specialists, industry organizations, and represents Armstrong on industry committees as applicable to the position.

The individual in this position maintains and expands market knowledge and increases contacts with customers through field travel and by attending relevant tradeshows, symposiums and conferences.

Key deliverables for the Energy Upgrade Application Engineer- U.S. are profitable sales and profitable growth.

Key Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science degree in engineering (mechanical, chemical, or electrical)
  • General understanding of fluid dynamics and pumping

Parts Manager

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Global Director, Services & Performance Management, the incumbent has the primary task and responsibility for day to day activities associated with the company’s parts product line to meet annual sales and profit objectives as stated in the company’s annual plan. The marketing manager leads and manages the development of the parts product portfolio through interaction with other CSGs, other departments and customers, carries out the priorities of product development, maintenance and obsolescence of parts.

Some Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct business development and delivery activities focused on revenue growth through proactive sales of Parts
  • Focus on existing customers and find creative ways to capture larger share of business from installed base
  • Develop and implement strategic plan to grow sales of Parts including new, refurbished and pre-owned
  • Develop marked assessment plans and strategies to identify, realize and prioritize market opportunities
  • Construct customer profiles and use cases for installed base equipment
  • Develop sales strategies and account planning templates for customer segmentation profiles based on installed base and industry characteristics
  • Develop sales campaigns and implementation strategies for local business units including selection of sales channel to market and sales channel pipeline management processes
  • Creating new offering to fill white spaces identified through market assessments
  • Work with Product & Service Offer leaders to incorporate parts offering into maintenance support agreements to differentiate Armstrong Fluid Technology from competitors
  • Raise market awareness of Armstrong Fluid Technology’s parts and repair programs
  • Overall management of spare parts products including product development, features, benefits and positioning of it to different markets and channels in cooperation with sales
  • Design and implement best sales and delivery set-ups for world class logistics operations
  • Create and maintain or otherwise ensure availability of spare parts related information including customer and sales materials, pricing model, delivery processes and technical information
  • Develop and actively communicate the spare parts products information changes and updates to all stakeholders.Ensure support for sales, marketing, operations and logistics.
  • Monitor the quality and delivery KPI’s relevant to the spare parts in co-operation with operations
  • Support and initiate actions needed to secure desired quality, on-time delivery and spare parts product performance for the US market
  • Ensure the processes and tools are optimize for the US market

Requirements

  • Technical, business, or marketing-related degree or equivalent professional qualification
  • Minimum 5 years of experience within product development, marketing, sales or service delivery with experience in spare parts sales and delivery
  • International experience
  • Experience in supply chain and logistics operations
  • Willing to travel
  • HVAC, plumbing and fire or related technical product knowledge.
